"Hello! I have a master’s degree in organic chemistry from Georgia Tech where I graduated with a 3.95 GPA while working full time doing research for a polymers company. I currently work for a company in Wisconsin where I use my chemistry background to do product development and like to tutor on the side. I've always been the type of person who loves to see others succeed and as a student would often host study sessions and help out my peers as much has I could. As someone in the workforce, this has translated to being the person people enjoy training under.
Prior to my current role I used to tutor students at an alternative youth academy where I would help high school age students with any work they were having trouble with (all subjects but my specialties are math and science). I also used to do 1-on-1 private tutoring for about a year. I felt like both experiences were rewarding but I particularly enjoy being able to work with the same person over time on a regular schedule so I can see their progression. Maybe I get a little invested but I really want everyone I help to succeed at whatever they want to do.
My tutoring method is to typically look through a student’s current coursework so I can tailor my teaching to be as close to what they are learning in class so that it feels familiar, and I am able to fill in the gaps of what they are already learning while also giving extra examples, practice, and context as needed to help them retain the information. I've learned over time that people learn and think in very different ways so no one true method is going to work for everyone. My goal is not only to help you learn the information but to also learn which methods work the best so that you're better prepared for the future. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or would like to schedule a session." less...
