"As a PhD graduate in computer engineering (CMU) and a Masters in Financial Math (Columbia U), I have worked in two unrelated industries for 30+ years. I am a programmer, with an interest in numerical methods and algorithms. I am relatively new to online teaching, though I have been a tutor in my graduate school days. My recent professional experience has been the quantitative side of finance and trading, though anything related to math and computer science interests me.
I can help you with high school math like algebra, calculus and probability theory, or even prepare you for the quantitative aspects of most standardized tests. I can also help you with computer science topics like discrete math, algorithms and data structures. I have personally written most of my programs in C++ and Python, and can demystify some of the common software development platforms for these languages. Occasionally, I use Excel as an easy graphing calculator and optimizer. From recent industry experience, I am familiar with many of the topics that are taught in financial math courses in universities.
I prefer students to decide how they can get the most out of me. Come up with your set of problems that you find difficult. I can reinforce your concepts and discuss additional exercises. Previous exams and well known texts are always a good source. I am also open to other ideas that may work better for you." less...
