"I started tutoring in high school, helping other students who were taking the SAT and ACT and preparing them for standardized tests to pass on to the next grade. I was a part of the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth so I have had experience with the SATs since 3rd grade and am familiar with the types of problems as well as problem solving strategies.
I then moved on to teaching swimming lessons part time through high school through two swim clubs as well as privately. I was giving maintenance piano lessons as well while some of my students normal teachers went on vacation for the summer.
Once I was a junior in college, I realized that I was missing teaching so I began teaching private swimming and piano lessons again until one of my students' parents asked if I taught math and reading. From there, I started tutoring almost full time while I was finishing up my undergraduate degree and began taking education classes as well.
I am currently in the process of getting a teaching license and a Masters in Education as well as tutoring full time. My students have ranged from 3 year olds to adults, some with ADHD, autism, and learning IEPs and I have also taught pretty much all subjects from basic writing and reading up to AP courses and standardized tests. Currently I tutor mostly math (algebra 1, algebra 2, geometry, precalc, and calc) and science (AP bio, AP psych, Chemistry, physics) to high school students around the greater Cleveland area. I truly love what I do and will work with each student to find learning styles and teaching methods that work best for them. Being able to make a tailored experience that best helps my students is the best part of the job and I have almost 2 decades of practice." less...
