Prior to 2014, I taught college Calculus classes online for UC Santa Cruz. I’ve also taught at different learning centers for SAT and AP math and physics courses, plus one-on-one tutoring. I received the highest student evaluations and was the best-paid instructor. I've worked with premier tutoring companies and was their "go-to" guy when it comes to difficult and advanced math and physics subjects. Since 2014, I’ve tutored full-time on my own, for middle school, high school, and college students. Many of the high school students went on to top universities, such as Harvard, Stanford, UPenn, Brown, Cornell, UC Berkeley, UCLA, UChicago, Duke, and Johns Hopkins.
For my teaching style, I believe that each student is different, and when I first meet him/her, my first task is to identify his strengths and weaknesses in the subject. Then we work on his weakness by starting with concrete, simple examples. With my advanced degree, I can view the whole math or physics from a high vantage point, see the big picture clearly, and how different parts fit together. Through my interactive and give-and-take tutoring method, I'm able to pass on my knowledge and insight to the student and help him build up his skills and confidence.
For SAT prep, I've done all official SAT math questions with the new digital format, and am thoroughly familiar with digital SAT content and styles. I have worksheets based on these questions, and from the many students I've worked with, I know the mistakes they'd likely make, and how to help them avoid the common traps/pitfalls. This practice has helped students tremendously." less...
