"Hi, I’m Mark! I recently graduated summa cum laude from The Ohio State University with a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering. I finished with a 3.93 GPA and made the dean's list all four years. While at Ohio State, I was a teaching assistant for 2 years, where I had the chance to tutor students in subjects like thermodynamics and senior process design. This came in the form of holding weekly office hours, leading study sessions, and creating homework/exams. Additionally, I completed an exciting undergraduate research thesis on organic batteries, where I earned honors research distinction. Being a recent graduate means I’m really familiar with the coursework and testing strategies that can help students succeed.
In high school, I was a National Merit Finalist and scored high on the SAT (1590) and ACT (34), so I also love helping students prepare for standardized tests. I have previously helped students preparing for the SAT, ACT, and other standardized tests in 1-on-1 and group sessions. Typically, I like to start by focusing on a student's weakest section(s) and identify what problem types and strategies we can study to help the student learn and score higher. I have also tutored middle school and high school students on topics like pre-Algebra, Algebra 1&2, precalculus, English, and more.
I’ve worked with middle school, high school, and college students in both classroom settings and one-on-one, and I always tailor my sessions to fit each student’s unique learning style. Passionate and caring teachers have been vital to my success as a student, so I hope to provide that same support to my students. Additionally, getting to know you/your student is very important to me, as I believe common ground and understanding are essential to academic success. My goal is to make learning fun and approachable while building confidence and helping students do their best academically!" less...
