"I'm Jason! I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Finance with a minor in Accounting at The University of Texas at Austin, McCombs School of Business. In college, I tutored my classmates in Business Calculus, Statistics, Microeconomics, and Macroeconomics, and enjoyed doing so. After graduating college, I decided to become a middle school math teacher and began my teaching career. I have also tutored many students from middle to high school math for over ten years. I also have been a middle school math teacher for over ten years and currently coach math teachers. I enjoy working with students at all ages and ensure that my students are successful at learning math.
I have worked with all types of learners and differentiate instruction catered to their individual needs. I also have a track record of showing the most growth for my math classes compared to my peers throughout my career. I like to get to know my students first and let them get to know me before we begin a lesson. In the beginning, I diagnose my students math skills, level, and gaps. I use scaffolding techniques and check for understanding through formative assessments to determine if I need to adjust my methods. Before I move on to the next lesson, I make sure that my students understand and can explain to me the key terms and process to solve a math problem. If needed, I will reteach, have them practice, and reassess. I also am able to show my students different ways to solve math problems.
I have also tutored students in English as a second language (ESL), Korean, SAT Math, ACT Math, CBEST, Praxis Math, and test taking strategies for standardized tests. I am passionate in education, teaching, and tutoring students in all ages and levels. I believe education opens the doors for more opportunities and builds self-esteem and confidence as well. I always want the best for my students and hope that they will be happy to have me as their tutor! Feel free to contact me with any questions or to schedule a lesson!" less...
