I am an experienced certified math and science teacher and tutor with 7 years of classroom experience. I graduated from the University of Georgia with a Master’s Degree in Mathematics Education and a Specialist Degree in Educational Psychology & Gifted Education.

This training and experience has taught me how to make math and science more relevant and interesting. As a classroom teacher, I am familiar with the Common Core Standards that teachers use to create their lessons. This allows me to help with current classwork as well as give students a head start with future classroom topics.

My goal is to make math relatable to the student so that they have a greater understanding of the logic and reasoning behind learning math. In addition, I can show how and where much of the math learned in the classroom is used in the real world.

Many students that have come to me for help have gone from failing to passing by the end of the semester. I've also been able to help students who claim to be “bad at math” to gain greater confidence and motivation to persevere and succeed in math and science.

I do this by adjusting my teaching style to meet each student’s individual needs and by utilizing various learning strategies so that it makes sense and connects with what the student already knows.

When needed, I also take advantage of Wyzant’s online platform to provide the same quality lesson online that you would expect from an in-person tutoring session. All you need is an internet connected computer. So physical distance no longer keeps you from getting the best math instruction you need.
