"Hello! My name is Tara, and I am a college graduate with Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics. Growing up, math has always come easily to me, and I have used my knowledge of it to my advantage by tutoring students of various ages when I was in high school. For example, for one year, I tutored a few of my classmates in my eleventh grade Algebra 2 class whenever needed, such as when someone was having trouble grasping a specific concept. This tutoring was usually done one-on-one and outside of school, where I helped the student go over the homework that was due before the next class or review any problems on quizzes/tests that they had gotten incorrectly. I did this by explaining what we had learned in class before, and then applying that knowledge to the problems that the student was struggling with.
For a few summers during high school, each for about 3-4 months each, I also did one-on-one tutoring with students of various ages and grades at Mathnasium of North Austin, where I helped them with subjects ranging from basic arithmetic to high school level Algebra. Here, I used the approach of determining what concept/problem the student was struggling with, and then thoroughly explaining the material in a creative and clear way so the student would be able to understand the topic better. After explaining/teaching the material, I would give the student some time to practice the material on their own, and then ask them if they had any further questions and would help them further if needed.
I am always happy to benefit the students I work with and help them succeed as much as possible, therefore I encourage students or parents to reach out to me when needed. I usually respond within two hours and will be glad to answer any questions that students or parents may have or schedule a lesson with students." less...
