"My name is Barry, and I graduated Magna cum Laude with a Bachelor’s and Master’s in Economics. They were awarded to me from SUNY Binghamton University, where I earned a 3.74 GPA. During my time in school, I noticed that although interest in the subject was a big factor in my success, the teacher and teaching style were always more important. The courses where I found the most success often had teachers who displayed a combination of extensive topic knowledge and an ability to articulate complex ideas. These are both qualities that I strive to cultivate in my teaching approach.

I began teaching at a young age, initially as a part-time job outside of school. This was at a local tutoring program where I worked for three years, managing classes of up to 20 kids. The students ranged from early grade school to early high school, and the topics ranged from math and reading at various grade levels. During university, I continued teaching, but this time I would be working closely with a professor to help undergraduates succeed. Over the past month and a half, I began online tutoring, mainly helping students with test prep for the SAT and the ACT. I enjoy helping students learn ways to best demonstrate their knowledge on standardized tests, and methods to put their best foot forward.

While I can teach a wide range of subjects, I take particular pride in my ability to tutor SAT Math. During my time in school, I scored 790/800 on the SAT Math section, so I know firsthand what it takes to succeed.
