"Hi! My name is MeiRose (pronounced May-Rose) I have been tutoring mathematics for more than eight years. I started tutoring high school and middle school students when I was an undergraduate in college. I love mathematics and I started tutoring because I wanted to help students feel more comfortable with the subject. I often hear how much people hate math and my hope is that I can help students feel more comfortable with math and transform their opinion from hate to a more neutral stance or maybe even liking math!
I earned my BS magna cum laude in mathematics from Stonehill College and just recently my MS from Temple University. I have worked with students ranging from elementary school through college students. When I was at Stonehill, I was a teaching assistant for seven different courses, I held review sessions and answered students' questions. I was awarded Stonehill College Class of 2020 Outstanding Student in Mathematics. After I graduated from Stonehill, I was offered a position to teach Finite Mathematics as an Adjunct Instructor. After teaching for a year at Stonehill, I continued my studies in math at Temple University. When I was at Temple, I was a Graduate Teaching Assistant and assisted and taught various courses such as Introduction to Probability and Statistics for Life Sciences, College Algebra, and Calculus I. I was also awarded a Future Faculty Assistantship from Temple University.
From my experience, I have found working with students one-on-one most fulfilling. My teaching approach is very individualized, and I aim to understand my students’ learning style and tailor my approach to best help them. As much as I hope that my students learn from me, I also want to learn from my students. As I have been teaching, I have learned many ways to approach math problems and different perspectives from my students and I truly value everything that I have learned from them." less...
