"Hi there! My name is Anxhelo (Angelo). I graduated summa cum laude from Florida State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in meteorology. My experience with tutoring began in the 6th grade. 6th grade was the first time I truly felt challenged in math, and therefore I had to start going to my older cousin to receive help with my homework. My desire to tutor others was really born out of having struggled myself and needing to seek help in a mentor whom I could trust to help me make sense of what I was learning. For the remainder of 6th grade, I would meet with my classmates after school to work on homework together and discuss concepts we were learning in our math class. These oftentimes turned into impromptu tutoring sessions.
Once I entered high school, I became a volunteer teaching assistant at my previous middle school and tutored students in remedial math, pre-algebra, algebra 1, and geometry. Throughout the rest of high school, I tutored these math classes in addition to biology, chemistry, physics, and even English. I also became an SAT Prep tutor through my high school's National Honor Society.
Then, in college, I received my first paid teaching position. I worked at Mathnasium centers in Tampa and Tallahassee for nearly 2 years, where I taught K-12 students on topics ranging from basic addition/subtraction to AP Calculus and SAT/ACT prep. In addition to this paid experience, I continued tutoring classmates in college-level physics, chemistry, calculus, and algebra. I also started tutoring college students for the GRE, as I was preparing to take the exam myself.
My favorite part about teaching is watching students go from being frustrated at what they're learning to reaching that "aha" moment when the lightbulb finally goes off in their head. Math in particular is a subject that is often fraught with frustration by so many students, and I am here to help your child gain the confidence and skills they need to be successful both in their current classes as well as their future endeavors." less...
