"Hello! I am a nurse with 20 years of experience. I love teaching students and would be happy to work with you! In addition to nursing, I have a passion for writing, as well as the Spanish language.

For most of my nursing career, I worked as a motivated medical-surgical nurse in a hospital setting. I am board-certified in medical-surgical nursing and value fundamental nursing care. Some of my roles were preceptor, clinical teacher, mentor, and charge nurse. Additionally, I worked as a Clinical Nurse Educator in a hospital Professional Development department. I served as a resource for the medical-surgical nursing staff, and led several classes, such as telemetry. I precepted newly licensed nurses during their clinical orientation.

Precepting students and newly licensed nurses was a joy, and I loved watching the growth of knowledge and skills. I often received feedback from students and new nurses that I am patient and approachable. My goal is for the learner to like learning and have success by growing in knowledge, clinical skills, critical thinking, communication, and nursing judgement.

My educational background includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Spanish, a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing, and a Master of Science degree in Nursing (Nursing Education specialty). In addition to nursing, my other passion is for the Spanish language. I excelled in the subject in school. During college I spent an academic year in southern Spain where I was immersed in Spanish life. I have tutored high school and college students in Spanish. I enjoy helping others grow in the language!
