"I am a recently retired educator with almost 30 years of experience in the classroom. I have taught 4th and 6th graders in a self-contained environment, as well as 6th, 7th, and 8th grade in a middle school model. This is where my expertise in Literature (Reading) and Language Arts (Grammar, Vocabulary, and Writing) has been perfected for the past 12 years.

My dream since I was seven years of age was to be a teacher and an actor. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Acting and Directing from a small college in New Hampshire. After graduation, I entered the corporate world providing administrative assistance in a variety of industries. However, my love of the English language – proper use of grammar, proofreading, editing – would not wait; these became the cornerstone of my professional persona.

I returned to school where I received my Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from George Mason University (Fairfax, VA). In addition to teaching in a classroom, I fulfilled my lifelong dream of working with children by directing students in both Shakespearean and musical performances.

I am looking forward to working with students on an individual basis to support them with reading comprehension and language arts. I can also help them develop and improve their executive function skills such as organization, study skills, and time management, as well as honing their writing and developing effective communication skills.
