"I'm Jess! I graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education. I am also taking classes towards my masters in education, with a concentration in dyslexia.

I work as a middle school math teacher at a charter school in Pennsylvania where I teach the Illustrative Math program. This program is extremely hands on for the students and engages them in a meaningful way that allows them to retain the information they learn. I bring this constructive teaching approach and ability to meet the students individual needs to my tutoring, and do everything I can to make learning a pleasant experience. I use a problem-based method that gets the students thinking and curious about the topic, research tells us that students prime time for retaining information is the first 15 minutes, so in my sessions we jump right in. Of course, I always ensure time for students to practice the material on their own. I have 5 years teaching experience and a year tutoring experience for 7th grade math. I worked everyday with students who have a variety of needs. I hold tutoring sessions every Friday for my students who need the most extra help, work with them in small group or independently to make sure they don’t fall behind.
