"Hi, I'm Julian! I graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania with a bachelor's in Biochemistry with Honors and a Master's in Chemistry. I was a Vagelos Molecular Life Sciences Scholar and received the Biochemistry Chair's Award upon graduation. I'm currently a Ph.D. student in Biology at MIT studying the neuro-metabolic basis of hibernation and mouse torpor.
Teaching and tutoring have long been passions of mine from the time I was in high school. I have two years of experience as a high school tutor for biology and chemistry, two years of experience as a college biochemistry tutor, and two semesters as a teaching assistant at MIT. I have ample experience teaching everything from practical lab coursework to advanced biochemistry. These experiences range from one-on-one lessons to classrooms of 30 students.
My tutoring approach is tailored to what you need as a student, be that additional examples of specific practice problems that go beyond what's in the textbook, or shoring up your fundamentals through memorization techniques geared toward key concepts. I like to learn what your strengths and weaknesses are as a student, and use individually designed lesson plans to improve your knowledge and abilities at both ends of the spectrum. My teaching method focuses on making sure you understand the principle components of the material so that after we sign off from our lessons, you're able to use those skills to solve problems beyond what we discuss in our sessions. If all else fails, I'm always available via email and direct messaging to answer any last minute questions you have. I look forward to working with you and helping you unravel the wonderful mysteries that the biological sciences have to offer." less...
