"Hi, I’m Amanda! I graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Northwestern - St. Paul with a major in Music Performance and a minor in History. A few years later I graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Masters degree in Music Performance. Since then, I have performed as a flutist and piccoloist with ensembles including the LaCrosse Symphony and Wayzata Symphony. I have also taught private flute lessons to students ages 6 to 64 for the past eleven years. My high school-aged students have been accepted into Minnesota Youth Symphonies, Greater Twin Cities Symphonies, and All-State Ensembles.
I also have a passion for college-level teaching. I previously taught Music History, Flute Ensemble, and Woodwind Ensemble at Crown College. The academic side of music is just as fascinating to me as the performance side!
My teaching style is warm, enthusiastic, and growth-focused. I want my students to leave each lesson with both a smile on their face and the inspiration to achieve the next level of proficiency!
Examples of private flute lesson materials may include Andersen Etudes, Flute Music by French Composers, and Bach Sonatas.
Music History, Music Theory, and Ear Training lesson materials will include any coursework the student is already working on as well as supplemental texts and online resources as necessary.
