"I am Tracy. I have a PhD in Nursing, a Master of Science in Nursing Education and initially started my professional practice after earning a BSN. I started my nursing profession in Cardiology and Emergency Medicine as well as served in various leadership roles. I have been a nursing educator for the last 20 years and am a Certified Nurse Educator. I have been recognized as a Nurse of the Year, earned a Distinguished Teaching Award, and received an Award of Excellence for Integrity, Excellence & Empowerment. My approach in teaching is to make topics enjoyable and find ways to engage students in breaking down complex concepts into manageable content through analogies and experiential learning activities. I will incorporate NCLEX style quizzing, as appropriate, to aid students in preparing for their future licensing exam. Test taking strategies are reviewed with students after completing quizzes. Of course, each student is unique, therefore my methods adjust based on a student’s individual needs.

I found my passion for teaching early in my career; first as a clinical preceptor which then evolved into tutoring as I moved into nursing education. I enjoy working with students in understanding Pharmacology, Pathophysiology, Medical/Surgical , Health Assessment, Anatomy, and Physiology. In addition, I work with students in preparation to take the NCLEX licensing exam.

I strive to ensure our time is beneficial and welcome any resources or suggestions a student may share. I am easy to reach and will always respond within 12 hours. I do ask for at least 36 hours notice if a student needs to cancel a tutoring session.
