"I graduated from Boston University with a B.A. in Mathematics, cum laude, and a B.S. in Secondary Mathematics Education, specializing in grades 8-12. During my time at BU, I gained a deep understanding of grade school math concepts and their connections to higher level math. I spent time in preschool and 6th-12th grade classrooms, learning from master teachers in the Boston area, and connecting with diverse learners both one-on-one and teaching lessons in front of the classroom.
I started tutoring online in 2019, and have been tutoring online in one-on-one format ever since. I thrive in the individual format, where both of us are in a comfortable space at home, with time to focus on getting to know you as a learner and a human so that I can better help you achieve your math goals. I have tutored students with all kinds of different backgrounds, needs, and aspirations, but I specialize in working with students who have low math self-esteem, who feel like they can't do it. We will work to build a growth mindset. I myself didn't coast through my math career... mistakes are a part of learning and everyone can do hard things with the right cheerleaders in your corner! I have worked with students with language processing challenges, ADHD, anxiety, and interrupted schooling. I am a warm, compassionate, nurturing tutor who will meet you where you are and empower you with encouragement and practical skills.
I have also worked with many students who are looking to get ahead, work on higher-level problem solving skills, and creating personalized instruction for next year's concepts.
I teach math because I truly love it, deeply nourished by the opportunity to spend my time solving problems and connecting concepts to relay them from new perspectives to diverse learners. I recognize the way math serves as a gateway to success in our education system, and I am dedicated to my role as a tutor and educator in building up my students' confidence to achieve their goals in math class and beyond." less...
