"Hi, I'm Michele. I am an Arizona State University graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication. I've taught young learners as a Substitute and Art Masterpiece teacher. Since September of 2017, I've taught English as a Second Language online. During this time, I continued my education by studying TEFL and TESOL courses. I participate in online company workshops as well. These workshops help me learn and grow in techniques and methods. They equip me to teach young learners between the ages of five and fifteen. I believe that students learn best when they are enjoying the process. My learning environment is one that is bright, relaxed and encouraging. My goal is the student's success!
I have seven years experience teaching English online to learners from around the world. I have taught over 13,500 one-on-one classes. The student's level of proficiency ranges from early emergent learners to those who are nearly fluent in English. I've learned to enter a class and quickly assess my approach. This allows me to meet the specific needs of learners. I am well versed in teaching synthetic phonics. Understanding unique letter sounds is crucial to developing a firm foundation for future learning. I am experienced in teaching a wide variety of reading and grammar skills. I help young students learn to read by blending letter sounds. I do this through modeling and echoing. When speaking, I reinforce conjugation rules. Two of my favorite things to teach older students are the schwa sound and idioms. I regularly use props and realia. This creates an engaging atmosphere and piques the interest of students. Correction is an important aspect of learning, but is done with patience and encouragement.
I am happy to answer any questions that you may have. I provide a quick response to messages that I receive. If you schedule and appointment and need to cancel the class, please provide at least two hours notice. I look forward to seeing you in class soon!" less...
