While I have had the privilege to instruct students in various subjects, my specialty lies within chemistry (general and organic). I started my tutoring journey at the Science Learning Center (SLC) at Lone Star College-University Park and continued that journey as a private tutor at the University of Michigan. I also secured a teaching position at Michigan, where I was a laboratory instructor for Organic Chemistry I and II.
As a teacher, I have found methods such as the Feynman method to be effective tools in the reinforcement of concepts they may have difficulties with. During my sessions (online and in-person), I strive to foster an environment that encourages students to be comfortable with making mistakes so that they can better understand where there are gaps in their knowledge. By identifying where students need assistance, I can then determine the best course of action to ensure that the student can reinforce and recall the information when necessary. Each of my students provides me with a unique opportunity to make complex subjects like chemistry to become more accessible." less...
