"I have been a high school physics teacher for 30+ years. In that time, I have helped many students achieve their goal of acceptance into college engineering or science programs. Most of my students, however, have no interest in a career directly related to physics. My goals as a physics teacher are to help them see the world through the lens of physics and understand the fundamental laws of nature and how they are applied to the world around them. If they leave class with the confidence that they can read a problem, understand the underlying concepts involved, and use mathematical tools to solve the problem, I have been successful.
I have BS and MS degrees in science education and have been a practicing high school teacher for more than three decades. I have taught physics at levels: conceptual, regular, honors, AP Physics 1, AP Physics C: Mechanics, and AP Physics C: Electricity and Magnetism. I have experience tutoring students in their homes as well as online. I have also been an AP Physics Exam Reader for the last 10 years.
When I work individually with a student, my primary goal is that they leave the session more confident in their abilities in physics than when we started. I start by listening to the student and asking questions to determine what will help them the most." less...
