"Hello! I'm a PhD Candidate in Political Science with four semesters of experience teaching Introduction to International Relations at the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill. I have an MA in Political Science from UNC, and a BA in Political Science with a minor in Global Security from the Pennsylvania State University. My research focuses on the impacts of civil wars on international investment. As someone who has learned and then taught Political Science at the college level, I am qualified to tutor for any subjects relating to International Relations, but I am especially knowledgeable about civil wars and conflict scholarship more broadly.
At the core of my approach to learning is the recognition that every learner possesses distinct strengths, weaknesses, and learning styles. This means that effectively teaching requires the cultivation of critical thinking skills and a genuine love for learning. Rather than simply repeating knowledge, I strive to foster a deep understanding of the subject matter, empowering students to think analytically, creatively, and independently about the forces influencing the political world around them. I believe that political science provides an incredibly useful toolkit of concepts and theories that helps us to explain the political world in which we live, and my tutoring aims to impart those same insights to my students." less...
