"Hello to those interested in me! I'm David, an experienced programmer who's currently taking credits at St. John's River State College before I move on to the University of Texas at Dallas in the fall.

I am an experienced tutor who's been writing code for over three and a half years and tutoring for almost as long. Over this period of time, I've worked almost entirely with younger students (from the ranges of 8 to 12,) which has led me to come up with a variety of creative ways to teach them the strict rules and principles of programming- My favorite of which is teaching Python through the video game Minecraft. I am engaging and interactive, and I resonate with younger students' interests well because in general I share their interests- I love nerding out about the latest Nintendo games (I particularly enjoy Smash Bros.) and memes (did you know that it is Wednesday, my dudes?)

I am attentive to each individual student’s needs and interests, and I generally custom-create lessons for individual students and their interests. For Wyzant, my intention is to teach much like I do face-to-face- by asking students about a program they’d like to build and teaching them about the current subject while building that program with them. It’s astounding how boring programming classes can be- my hope is to make students excited about learning to code by showing them immediately cool things they can do no matter their level of skill! This is especially important for my target age group, as it is vital to keep younger students engaged and interested.
