As an interventionist in public school settings teaching diverse student populations , I have been fortunate to see results in both Reading and Math for the past 8 years. The most successful program I use is the University of Florida Literacy Institute’s (UFLI) Foundations which focuses on Phonics. Students learn about sounds, blending and segmenting, to help them read and write!

In Math, I have seen students advance from behind to on grade level in understanding of Base 10 as well as number operations (+,-,x,/) using iReady instruction with Prerequisite lessons for grade levels.

Most of my teaching experience in Intervention has been in small groups (2-5 students) during the school day. This summer (2024), I will be starting my training and certification in Orton Gillingham, instruction for teaching individuals with dyslexia how to read. This method has proven to be successful with all readers including these who struggle most.
