"Teaching is my dream job. I have been happily and successfully teaching reading, writing, and grammar to students in grades 3-6 for fifteen years. My expertise is teaching reading comprehension and analysis. I stress to my students each year that becoming an effective reader is the key to academic success in every subject.

An enthusiastic reader myself, I connect my students with intriguing, well-written, age-appropriate books to inspire a passion for reading in them. As we read together we discuss plot elements, vocabulary, theme, voice, and literary techniques. I continually question my students to evaluate and hone their comprehension and analysis skills through discussion and writing. Simply put, I teach reading through reading. This method is especially successful in a one-on-one format.

In July of 2019 I completed the Associate level of Orton-Gillingham training to tutor dyslexic students. This method is extremely effective for students with reading difficulties. One-on-one tutoring twice a week will make a difference for your dyslexic child.
