"I have been a reading tutor for 20 years, but where my true passion lies is in helping other people feel good about themselves to reach their goals. Building strong reading skills--in adults as well as kids--fosters confidence and motivation to succeed in life.

My experience tutoring reading began in 1996, when I worked as a training program coordinator for a woods products company in the Pacific Northwest. My responsibilities included assessing employees' reading skills, recruiting and training tutors from the workplace and general community, tracking progress, and tutoring students. I also tutored adults and children in reading, across the country, over the telephone. My reading tutoring experience continued when my own teenage kids started school. I volunteered in their classrooms for years. For the past 5-1/2 years I've been employed by a public school district, where most of my experience has been serving as a paraeducator at elementary, middle and high school levels. During school year 2014-15, I was a reading specialist at elementary level.

I care about others and enjoy supporting people who want to improve some aspect of their lives. I appreciate, and honor, the vulnerability students of all ages experience while taking a leap of faith to trust someone to help them.
