"My name is Allison, and I am looking forward to being your new tutor! I have a rich background in science and would love to tutor you on any topic within that; specifically, my interests are biology, chemistry, molecular biology, physiology, anatomy, ecology, biochemistry, and scientific writing. I have a Master of Science in Biology and a Bachelor of Science with a Major in Medical Biology (minors in Chemistry and graduated with Honors). I currently am a researcher studying concussions and brain health in pediatric populations but, in college, I researched in a molecular biology lab where we studied epigenetics changes and the role the environment plays on phenotype in Chestnut-Crowned Babblers. I have experience as a mentor for undergraduate students and have been a guest lecturer for both undergraduate and graduate courses.
I would like to tailor my tutoring approach to your learning style; I want to work with you to give you resources in a format so you will succeed so if you have something you know will help you, I will change my format to meet your needs! However, if you do not have a certain style that you like, I plan to incorporate a mix of both verbal and visual instruction to explain the topics you have trouble with. If you need help studying for big exams, quizzes, or just general studying, I plan to use practice problems and verbal questions to build critical thinking skills that will help you flourish in your course. For my collegiate-level students- I have taken the courses that you are working on and succeeded, I want to use those same strategies with you and help you thrive! This applies to any age younger than college as well that need help with broader scientific concepts.
I am looking forward to connecting with you and being your next tutor. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me." less...
