"Hello! My name is Kaitlynn and I graduated with a bachelor's degree in Chemistry (minor in Biology). I am a mom of 2 little ones and I teach full time, so please do not be deterred by my response time, as I promise I will respond as quickly as I can (definitely under three hours, unless I’m asleep :))! In college, I played basketball, so I am very understanding when it comes to busy schedules. For the past eleven years, I have been a high school chemistry, AP chemistry, forensics, and biology teacher (I have taught AP chemistry for the past 8 years). I have also coached basketball and lacrosse. I love my job! I'm extremely passionate about all things science, and I love inspiring my students to love science as well. I'm an experienced tutor in chemistry and biology, and I have worked with honors students as well as in inclusion classrooms. To make the most of my tutoring sessions, I always come prepared with practice problems, visual aids, and suggestions for study habits/skills.

My favorite thing about tutoring science is relating what you are learning to your everyday life in order to foster a better understanding of the material. For some students, I realize that it is difficult to think about, calculate for, and predict behaviors of things at the microscopic level. In my teaching and tutoring experience, I have used things like particle diagrams, graphic organizers, and interactive simulations to help students grasp the material. My goal is always for students to not only retain the information, but be able to apply it.
