"I loved Spanish since the first day of 7th grade when I started taking it. I lived in Chile for 16 months in the late 1990s, which is where I really learned how to speak Spanish, and when I decided to that I wanted to teach Spanish. I have a BA in Spanish Education from The University of Texas at Austin. I've taught Spanish in middle & high schools since January 2015. I have my Texas Teacher Certification for Spanish EC-12, English Language Arts and Reading 4-8, and ESL Supplemental EC-12. I also have a 120-hour TESOL Certificate from International Online Academy. I have tutored students in Spanish, English, and ESL since 2018, both online and in person.

I enjoy helping others improve their language skills. I love continuing my own learning as well, so I am currently enrolled in an online course for proofreading and editing in English. I have also volunteered helping adults learn English in my community.

In my spare time, I enjoy walking with my husband and dog, spending time with our cats, and drawing. I also enjoy reading, singing, listening to music, and watching TV in both English and Spanish, which helps me grow my own language skills.

I feel the best way to become bilingual is to speak the language you're trying to learn, so I focus a lot on getting over the fear of making mistakes and on having students speak the language. I'm a firm believer in the thought "practice makes perfect" and that we learn by our mistakes. I respect those trying to break out of their comfort zone who are trying to learn, so it is important to me to show that respect and admiration during tutoring sessions." less...
