"Hi! My name is Elise and I currently hold two certifications in both regular and special education. I began teaching as a regular education teacher and realized how many differently-abled students I had the pleasure of working with and wanted to best meet their needs so I went back to school and received additional qualifications. As a teacher, I have worked with many students from Kindergarten through 12th grade. I absolutely love building relationships with my students and their families and always strive to find out how I can help. I like to find out where a student wants to get to so we can figure out together how to best get there! This would involve determining where a student is currently at in order to check their progress along the way. I have found that conferencing with students is extremely valuable in that they can better understand their role, as well as my role, and for them to see their progress along the way! Although I had up to 15 students in my classroom, I often taught in small groups or individually based on the needs of each student socially, emotionally, and academically. Math was typically a small group lesson while reading was done more on an individual basis at the foundational level and then in small groups as confidence was built.
My role will be to help each student work towards a goal that they help to set for themselves, therefore I welcome any conversations with students and families regarding this idea. I am friendly and patient and will respond as quickly as I can. Feel free to contact me with any additional questions or to schedule a lesson!" less...
