"Hello, I’m Monique! I attended the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) for 2 years before moving to Florida to attend the University of Florida (UF). I have a Bachelor of Arts in Geography. I then continued at UF to obtain a Master of Education in Special Education to serve those students who needed extra support in learning. Currently, I have 30 years of experience in teaching students with disabilities in all Elementary subjects, Middle School Social Studies/Geography, and High School Geography. I have even had the pleasure of administering the Pre-GED & GED exams to incarcerated youth. I have over 15 years of tutoring experience with students from Grade 3 through adult education. Ten of those years include supporting UF student-athletes with learning difficulties.
I truly enjoy seeing the success of my students passing an assignment, a test, or an entire class, based on their ability to utilize organizational and task-specific strategies. I believe in motivating learning while pinpointing the specific barriers to comprehension, retention, or performance. I have had success with students struggling with ADHD, ASD, and learning disabilities.
My sessions begin with a brief conversation about individual progress, needs, and expectations for the session. I welcome and encourage input from my students and parents (as applicable for minors) regarding the history of learning and goals.
I look forward to the opportunity to work with learners of all abilities!" less...
