"As an undergraduate of Cornell University and of the graduate school Cambridge College, I received instruction from top scholars in their field. Initially I majored in the fine arts program, and later transferred into the communication arts major. I later earned a master's degree in education. My background in art has strengthened my ability to integrate academics with the arts, which allows me to reach various types of learners. During my thirty year teaching career, I have taught all of the elementary grade levels in various subject areas, including art. I was also an Academic Intervention Specialist for lower grades in elementary school. I reviewed and selected the most effective reading programs and I made recommendations to the school administration. I am also proud that I had the opportunity to provide training and guidance to first year teachers within the New York City public school system while working as a mentor.
I have provided instruction in reading, writing, math, social studies, science, and art, but I have a particular passion for providing English language arts instruction. I work with students who have learning challenges as well as students who are academically gifted. I am considered patient and receptive, which helps students gain self-confidence.
I try to be flexible with scheduling tutoring sessions and I try my best to make up for any missed ones. I use a 24 hour cancellation policy.
I am open to meeting at a mutually convenient location in Brooklyn as well as providing online tutoring.
I look forward to hearing from you !" less...
