"David provides standardized test preparation and academic math tutoring. He is warm, supportive, and inspiring, and he gets along with all types of students. He has extensive experience working with both neurotypical and neurodivergent students.
David got his start at The Princeton Review, where he underwent comprehensive training in each test he teaches. He also became an integral part of the content-creation team, which led to enhanced expertise. He loves tutoring as he can adapt to each student's needs and ensure that the student understands the required knowledge and skills. Standardized tests are inherently coachable, and David often uses the analogy of a sports coach when he works with his students, as he wants them to gain “pencil memory.” By the early 2010s, David was The Princeton Review's most requested tutor in New York City. He opened his own tutoring business in 2015.
Over time, David realized that many students do not understand the logic underneath and beauty of Math, so he offered academic Math tutoring as well. David–who considered majoring in Math–does not believe that any student can be inherently bad at Math, but students do need fundamentals and someone to help them understand the “what and why” of their Math topics. He regrets that some Math teachers present math as a series of rules rather than an integrated, logical, and beautiful system. He can help students of all ages and levels, through Pre-Calculus.
David attended the Allen-Stevenson School and the Riverdale Country School in New York, Duke University, Brooklyn Law School, from which he graduated valedictorian, and Columbia Teachers College, from which he received a Master of Science in Neuroscience and Education. His Master thesis is entitled Adolescent Anxiety for High Stakes Admissions Tests: A Neuroscience Proposal." less...
