"I have been a practicing licensed professional counselor since 2007 and a certified professional counselor supervisor since 2015. Having been director of two departments at a large behavioral health hospital, I have the clinical experience to help students learn not only what the books says about mental illnesses but also how to differentiate them in person. Now in private practice, I spend 50% of my clinical time training new clinicians entering the field as well as volunteering for organizations to educate police, first responders, and community members about mental illness. I am passionate about helping the world understand mental illness better and advocate for fair treatment of persons with mental illness. It is rewarding to help students and new clinicians gain a better understanding of how mental illnesses develop and present. I believe that learning should not only be hard work, but should also be an enjoyable experience. Laughter is healthy and important not only for your life but for your learning experience.
