"As an experienced educator with a background in both academia and real-world applications, I bring a multifaceted approach to tutoring that is tailored to each student's needs and learning style. With a Ph.D. in Sociology from Duke University, coupled with master's degrees in both Sociology and Education, I have a comprehensive understanding of various subjects and pedagogical methods.
My teaching journey began in the School District of Philadelphia, where I served as a Mathematics Teacher and Department Chair. During my five years there, I honed my skills in curriculum development, data-driven decision-making, and fostering a supportive learning environment. I worked with students ranging from middle school to high school, adapting my teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of each classroom.
In higher education, I transitioned to teaching and research roles at institutions like George Washington University and Brown University. Here, I taught courses on sociology, disparities, and public policy, engaging students through interactive lectures, discussions, and real-world case studies. My experience mentoring graduate and undergraduate students in research methodologies has given me insight into how to effectively communicate complex concepts and encourage critical thinking.
I believe in fostering a supportive and collaborative learning environment where students feel empowered to ask questions, explore concepts deeply, and develop their own problem-solving strategies. My goal is not only to help students master academic content but also to instill in them a lifelong love for learning and a sense of confidence in their abilities." less...
