"Hi, my name is Johnie K., and I graduated from Cal Poly SLO with a bachelors in Aerospace Engineering in 2014, though I currently own and operate my own commercial salmon fishing boat out of Homer, Alaska. Though I do not work in engineering, I spent time tutoring math and physical sciences to high school and college students during my time in college, as well as throughout the 6 years since. While my career may not include mathematics or physics at the moment, I still love the purity of the subjects, and their ability to help us understand the world around us.

I love tutoring because it gives me the opportunity to continue to communicate the beauty of these subjects, even though my lifestyle has led me away from studying them myself. I enjoy being able to help students achieve their goals in these areas, and always hope to find an opportunity to help others see the importance and the power of mathematics and physics. But I also want to help you understand and appreciate what you are studying, which is far more important than then any test or grading metric.

I am good at math, and I did very well in my studies in college. But I am better with people, and I enjoy communicating with people more than I enjoy working out a math problem on paper. I also believe in understanding a topic, not just getting the right answer. I am willing to do what it takes to help you truly understand what you are struggling with, and to know why it is important.
