"Hi, I'm Cooper! I graduated from Harvard cum laude with a degree in Computer Science and a secondary in Statistics. Learning has always been a passion of mine, and that is mainly due to the many wonderful educators I have had the chance to meet. It is easy to recall moments where I fell in love with math and the sciences, and teachers always played an important part in those moments. I strive to pull insight out of my students, using leading questions and carefully selected practice problems to allow students to notice the patterns and solving styles that are necessary for deeper understanding. While my degree is in computer science, I also studied physics and math in college and feel comfortable teaching any level of those three subjects.
My first experience tutoring was in high school, helping a younger classmate stay on track of homework. Since then, I have worked with a variety of class sizes, subjects, and ages. At Harvard I was a course assistant for my peers for introductory physics and statistics classes, teaching in one on one sessions and in small classroom settings. Over the summer, I spent time as an instructor for a coding summer camp for high school students. I was also involved with outdoor education in college, and most recently took high school students on two week backpacking trips in Alaska.
I am quite flexible, in meeting time, location, as well as varying learning styles. Do reach out with any questions, and I look forward to meeting with you!" less...
