"Hello! I am a Philo-sophist (Lover of Knowledge) who got my Bachelor's in English at the University of North Florida. I also hold a teaching certificate from Duval County Public Schools and a Teaching English as a Foreign Language certificate. In addition, I was a member of the Honor Society Phi Kappa Phi and the English Honor Society Sigma Tau Delta.
In the past five years, I have been working in many avenues of education from teaching 11th and 12th grade English Language Arts and AP Literature to teaching English abroad in South Korea. I also have experience with tutoring all levels of English learners. In that time I've encountered all kinds of students and learned that the best way to teach is to get to know the student's individual needs and work together with that student to meet goals that we can agree on. I believe this is a partnership. Education isn't one-size-fits-all and many students feel left behind in the classroom enough to need more one-on-one attention. Because of this, I don't approach every tutoring session the same way.
I didn't always feel the most confident in myself in school, so I understand what it feels like to struggle with a subject. I believe this is the most important factor in a teacher: not just knowing the material but understanding where the material may be tricky or difficult to learn. I hope you can trust me to help you with this journey so that you can reach your full potential." less...
