"I am a natural teacher with 10 years of experience as a professional tutor. I have tutored over one hundred students in the Northern Virginia area, in math, statistics, economics, writing, and other subjects. My knowledge of the way these subjects are taught in local schools helps me quickly answer students' questions and get them immediately closer to their goals.

Math did not come easy to me in school, so I empathize with students who struggle in the subject. However, I know from working with so many students, that anyone can make dramatic improvements in their grades and test scores, with focused practice and some helpful instruction. I aim not just to help students improve their grades and scores, but to make math less intimidating to them, a key to lifetime learning.

I also have significant experience teaching writing. I have worked with students on SAT/ACT prep, college essays, and many other writing assignments. I draw on my experience studying English in college and my career as a professional writer. I have published many articles and won awards for my writing, including The Nation's student essay contest and an award for investigative journalism.
