"I have tutored MCAT students for about 4 years now. I am a career academic pediatrician who left clinical practice in 2016 and left curriculum development and USMLE Step 2 exam prep for medical students in 2018. I have tutored students aiming for a 528 and those aiming for a 505. In addition to my MD, I hold a Masters Degree in Education of Healthcare Professionals completed in 2018.

I love showing adult students how to develop the test taking skills that they will use for the rest of their career as they sit USMLE exams, residency in-training exams and ultimately their medical specialty boards. The MCAT is unique among post baccalaureate admissions exams in that is an achievement test that requires application of knowledge and skills to new scenarios, just like a physician is required to do in daily practice.
Students are encouraged and supported in reviewing their learning styles, learning tasks and strategies as they build a "toolbox" of techniques. Many students are surprised to learn that techniques that they learned to pass coursework exams may be helpful but that more "active" learning strategies are even better to optimize performance on the MCAT and other medical exams to come
I have taught medical students in a variety of settings from 1995 to 2018 in two different Texas medical schools. I have a 4.9 out of 5 rating among my current students using another tutoring platform. I have also helped students who have had difficulty with Step 2 USMLE, American Board of Medical Specialties Board Exams in General Surgery, Family Medicine and Internal Medicine as well as nurse practitioners (Family, Pediatric and Women's Health) in passing their certifying exams. Strategies in studying, active learning techniques, use of practice questions in a variety of ways and practice tests are all keys to success
