"Hi, my name is Jamie Easton. I graduated with a Bachelor’s and Master's Degree in Exceptional Education with a minor in psychology, and I have a certification in reading with experience working with print disabilities including dyslexia. I also have had experience working with executive functioning skills including study skills, time management, organization, focus and memory strategies and behavioral support. During my training, I liked how teachers would use routines, yet be flexible in their approach to teaching based on individual needs. My tutoring approach offers a preview of the learning, I introduce the topic, explicitly teach the lesson and offer students time to do the work, ask questions and I provide feedback. I want students to have a high quality experience so they can use and transfer what they learn.
My style is engaging and interactive, and I can be flexible in my lesson design based on individual learning needs.
I have over 20 years of tutoring experience in small groups and one-to-one sessions. I provided detailed lesson plans that included reading skill development in decoding, phonemic awareness, phonics, reading comprehension and reading strategies. I taught small group learning strategies classes that involved executive functioning skill development for students who struggled to keep with academic demands at the middle and high school levels. I also have tutored in English (grammar, sentence structure, idea development, paragraph development and editing) and basic math skills.
I am passionate about student learning and believe all students can achieve at high levels. I respond promptly to all inquires. Feel free to reach out with any questions or to schedule a tutoring session. I look forward to working with you." less...
