"I’m Andrew. I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Physics Education, and finished off a Chemistry major after graduating. I taught High School math for several years before getting my Master’s in Applied Mathematics and have taught math at the College level for over 10 years. Tutoring students outside of class all the time.

I began tutoring my peers in class when I was in the 7th grade. I worked at the tutoring center during undergraduate and graduate school. I have experience working with students in person and online. For many summers I also worked at a Math contest camp preparing students for math competitions such as the AMC and MATHCOUNTS. I’m used to working with struggling students all the way to gifted math students to help them achieve their goals. Most of my tutoring in physics or chemistry hasn’t been for many years, but a couple times I have helped one of my math students with it and can always brush up on the required concepts.

Typically, when tutoring a person for the first time I attempt to meet them where they are at by finding out what they know about the topic. At what speed can the person handle going through problems, fast or slow. With a little explanation or a lot of explanation. Through this process I find out if we need to draw a picture or see a simpler version of a question then come back to the actual question.
