"I love to tutor. I love to tutor, because it puts me in the perspective of the students that I am tutoring and takes me back to the years that I struggled in mathematics. Between third and sixth grade, I vividly remembered how I struggled greatly in the subject of mathematics. It was not until during my seventh grade year, my mom enrolled me in a community college while simultaneously going to my middle school. The summer before that, I learned basic steps for sixth grade math from a CD. Those two things helped me progress faster than expected. While I understand that everybody is not good at certain subjects, with mathematics being the most common, I have to make sure I do not rush the students, and tutor them at a level that they can easily comprehend. I will break down the material so that it would be easy to digest for the students that I am tutoring.
I tutored third through seventh graders in mathematics at the Huntington Learning Center, and tutored the daughter of a family friend in August of 2016. These experiences gave me an insight to learning about mathematics in the most formative years. Those are the years that prepare students for algebra, which I feel are the most crucial. I was also a teaching assistant during my senior year of high school for a tenth grade algebra 1 class in which my former teacher was teaching. I felt that that was an opportunity for me to realize if tutoring and managing a classroom was what I wanted to do. I realized that it was necessary experience.
I will do all I can to make sure that I am tutoring the student the best I can, and that the student thoroughly understands all aspects of the material in order to establish a connection, and to progress to more advanced topics. I am an outstanding math tutor, because I am capable of dissecting the material to make it easier for the students to digest. I am an outstanding American history tutor, because I know the history of the United States almost like the back of my hand, and I understand each event almost detail by detail. D" less...
