"Hi I'm Deepthi and I would love to be your tutor! A little bit about myself, I graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences and Magna Cum Laude from the George Washington University with a Master's degree in Public Health. While at Cornell, I was on the Dean's list for 2 years and served as a tutor for the Biological Sciences department and Teaching Assistant for Plant Biology classes. Additionally, I have taken the MCAT and got in the high 500s.
Without a tutor, I would have never been able to achieve the high scores on the MCAT or on SATs (2180) and SAT Subject tests, Biology score (720), and Math I and II (740 and 730). This is why I want to return the favor. I want all students to have access to the help they need so they can achieve their dreams. Hence, I have been on and off tutoring for about 7 years. In college, I tutored subjects that were within my major, such as Biology, Physics I and II, and Organic Chemistry I. My tutoring style is all about accommodating the needs of the student. I, first, like to connect with my students prior to the first sessions to learn what they want to focus on. Start of session, we do a quick overview of the topic of choice, answering all questions of confusion (there are no dumb ones!). I also try to relate core principles with fun anecdotes/mnemonics, like SOHCAHTOA (sine, cosine, and tangent trig functions). After our overview, we work through problems and examples, having the student explain each step as we go along to further comprehension. We end our session talking about what we'll focus on next and one interesting thing the student learned during our lesson.
The best thing I love about tutoring are the proud looks my students have when they actually understand the material and ace their exams! I am easily reachable and respond quickly. Feel free to contact me with any additional questions! " less...
