"Hey there! My name is Nitin Elavarasu and I am a recent graduate of the University of Virginia with a Bachelors of Science in Chemical Engineering and over 7+ years of professional tutoring and teaching experience. As a Chemical Engineering major student with an interest in law, I have a diverse, high-level knowledge base in a variety of STEM and liberal arts disciplines. Over the course of my tutoring career, I have helped students K-12 with varied academic backgrounds and interests transform into high-performing, motivated students in everything from K-12 Math, Science, English, History, AP Test Prep, as well as SAT and ACT Prep. Within these subjects, I have the most experience with AP AB and BC Calculus as well as AP Chemistry and have engaged with 10+ students in each of these subjects respectively to great academic improvement. In general, I have experience working with students in both one-on-one capacities as well as in small groups and I aim to orient my teaching style around the specific goals students have – ranging from homework help and test preparation to creating entire lesson plans to help students get ahead in a class.
At the core of my teaching style is a passion for communication: I love to connect with students and watch them become more confident and motivated as students. Through this approach, I have been able to help students with different attitudes and motivations become life-long learners that are excited and driven to achieve personal growth. This approach has spoken for itself in terms of the results I have garnered, with students commonly gaining 100-200+ point increases on their SAT scores, improving by entire letter grades for AP courses, and in general gaining more confidence in their ability to learn and communicate." less...
