"I'm Hannah! I will be graduating from the University of Arizona with a double major in PPEL (Philosophy, Politics, Economics, and Law) with a double major in English. In Fall 2021 I will begin at Case Western Reserve University where I will be getting my Master's in Social Work. Throughout college, I have researched teaching materials, curriculum design, and corpus linguistics for my lab work. Thus, I know the theory behind effective teaching and learning. Throughout my classes, I have come to realize the importance of giving students the tools and knowledge that they need to do well on their own. Often, this means instilling confidence in students that they can do hard things and achieve in areas where they have not traditionally achieved. I have seen how much good tutoring can do and I would love to continue teaching areas that I am comfortable in.

I have a year experience tutoring beginners science courses in my university (the course was Introduction to Geosciences). In this setting, I tutored anywhere between 3 and 20 students twice a week and then received feedback on my tutoring from the Professor. The students needed extra help with the material and test preparation. I also have significant peer review, essay writing, and essay editing experience and have knowledge of how to teach and guide students through English concepts. I want to be a benefit and resource to students as much as possible, but I also know that sometimes as a tutor I need to step back and let my students work through hard things on their own.
