"I graduated from the University of Connecticut with a BS in molecular & cell biology, a BA in human rights, and a minor in mathematics, as well as an MS in behavioral neuroscience. I am currently a Neuroscience PhD student at the University of Pennsylvania.
I have been teaching and tutoring for 6 years as an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant for subjects like Cell Biology and Principles of Biology for six semesters, which has allowed me to build strong communication skills while holding office hours and review sessions. Additionally, my role as a Graduate Teaching Assistant for various courses including biology and psychology has allowed me to strengthen my ability to explain complex topics and engage students through interactive learning.
Beyond the university setting, I have actively contributed to student development through positions such as a UConn Student-Athlete Success Program instructor, teaching assistant at Windham High School School for math, and as a Residential Tutor/Counselor for the UConn College Access and Preparation Program, where I worked with first-generation college students to provide support with college preparation and essay writing. I also took on a leadership role by designing and teaching a college preparation course through the UConn Co-op Legacy Fellowship Program at Windham High School. These roles have given me valuable experience working with diverse student populations, and tailoring my teaching to meet the needs of each group.
I currently private tutor through UConn’s Quantitative Center, where I assist students in calculus, biology, and chemistry, and at Mathnasium, where I provide one-on-one instruction to K-12 students, including assisting with SAT preparation. These positions keep me actively involved in teaching across various levels, where I adapt my approach to suit different learning styles. I believe in creating a learning environment that fosters curiosity, builds confidence, and encourages problem-solving." less...
