"Hello, my name is Allyson! I studied Mathematics at the University of Georgia and have since pursued a career within the private education space. I was previously a Center Director at Mathnasium, where I directly instructed students in everything between kindergarten-level foundations up through precalculus and statistics. Additionally, I designed individual learning plans tailored to each student's educational needs and goals.
I also have a fairly extensive tutoring background, working both in a private 1:1 setting and within a traditional classroom. During high school and college, I tutored individual students in a variety of subjects, ranging between English and Biology. During my undergraduate career, I worked as a TA for three years in differential calculus, precalculus, and introductory chemistry courses.
Overall, my teaching style is very adaptable. I prioritize meeting a student where they are at and engage with them in a way that really motivates them to understand the material at hand. I subscribe to the idea that subjects, particularly math, cannot always be taught in a prescriptivist manner; I am very comfortable with adapting an instructional approach to best help a student make connections and fully digest different topics." less...
