"Hello! My name is Gavin. I'm currently studying electrical engineering at Auburn University and have over 2 years of tutoring experience.

While most of my engineering-related endeavors regard math and science, I also have a passion for Spanish! Most of my tutoring experience actually comes from this subject! In high school, I organized a student-led Spanish tutoring program through the National Spanish Honors Society during homeroom. I have also privately tutored a few students in Spanish 1 and elementary Spanish. While teaching the language, I strongly focus on practicing and perfecting the grammatical tenses. I wrote a book entitled "The Ultimate Spanish Grammar Guide: Mastering the Tenses" to act as a supplement to my teaching, since understanding the tenses is essential to Spanish proficiency. I scored a 5 on the AP Spanish Language Exam as well, so I believe I will be able to help many students with their Spanish listening, speaking, reading, and writing!

In addition to Spanish, I also have a passion for math. I have never explicitly tutored this subject, but have a strong academic background that will assist me with my teaching; I have earned As in math courses ranging from Algebra 1 to Calculus 2. I also scored a 5 on the AP Calculus AB assessment and received a 790/800 on the math portion of the SAT.

While this academic knowledge is important, I want students to know that I prioritize their learning. I understand how it feels to sit through a boring, poorly taught lecture, just waiting for it to end. To avoid this, I try to make my lessons as interactive as possible. In past Spanish tutoring lessons, I have make flashcard games, charts, and play-pretend conversations to engage with the student. I also try to give mini assessments at follow up tutoring sessions to gauge a student's progress with a topic that we previously covered.
