"I recently graduated magna cum laude from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering, with minors in Chemistry and Classical Studies. I was also the Latin tutor for my university for the last three of my four years in college. I enjoyed being able to help other students with their coursework. I have the most experience tutoring Latin, but I am also qualified to teach a wide range of math and science subjects, with math all the way to upper level Calculus and Differential Equations, and with science, Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science, and Engineering. I try to motivate students to enjoy what they are studying. If a student is struggling with a topic, I explain the topic in as many ways as I can so that the material is fully understood. I believe firmly in being a lifelong learner and try to instill this in my students. In my free time I enjoy learning new languages casually, biking and watching Netflix.
I excelled in my chemical engineering studies in college while fitting in a classical studies minor as well. I received only three B's in my chemical engineering courses in my four years of college, with the rest being all A's. I always enjoyed studying with friends in my classes because I could explain many concepts and problems to them when I had a good grasp of them.
I was the outstanding senior in chemical engineering at my university. I have passed the fundamentals of engineering (FE) chemical exam. I understand things conceptually and am able to explain the concepts in multiple ways.
I have close to four years of tutoring experience in Latin. I have taken four years of Latin in high school and two semesters in college. I received a 5 on the AP Latin exam in my senior year of high school. I have experience working with translation of Ovid, Vergil, Caesar, and some Cicero. I have used the Cambridge Latin courses in high school, and the Wheelock's textbook in college.
I am able to help with translations, both English to Latin, and vice versa, and help with the language" less...
